A friend recommended visiting Creede a few years back when we still lived in Texas. We’ve been going back every year since. The town is absolutely charming with galleries, eateries, and more. A short road trip away, we visit the overlook for the headwaters of the Rio Grande. Then, to Clear Creek Falls. If you feel ambitious, keep going to the overlook for beautiful Lake San Cristobal.
Creede’s elevation is 8,799 feet above sea level, which makes it nice and cool in the summer. This part of the San Juan Mountains is beautiful year-round with off-road trails galore! In the evening, you can take in a play at Creede Repertory Theater— always a must for us!
